New Hampshire drivers need to slow down on the road

On Behalf of | Apr 18, 2022 | Auto Accidents |

On slick roads in the United States, especially in the northeast when winter turns into spring, accidents can happen to vehicles and injury might ensue for all of the people who are involved. It is not uncommon on highways, where drivers pick up speed in many cases, for all sorts of vehicles to crash into each other, particularly if they do not slow down.

Accidents involving cars and trucks or sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and trucks happen way too often on the road and it is often the smaller vehicle that sustains the damage and injury. Rush-hour traffic can be really dangerous and if you add slick road surfaces to that, it can become treacherous and accidents can happen.

So much is recorded today

When it comes to technology, so many vehicles are equipped with dashboard cameras so that you know exactly what happened and exactly when everything occurred. As unfortunate as a traffic accident is, it may be a learning experience and one that helps other people to avoid a similar situation in the future.

In many cases, the drivers who are hit by another vehicle have done everything right that they possibly can do but they still get involved in an accident. There are many times when the people involved are seriously injured or killed. It isn’t enough for drivers to obey traffic signs and avoid hitting other people on the road. They must also use common sense and do everything in their power to drive safely for their sake and for the sake of other people.

Many vehicles are vulnerable to accidents

When it comes to road traffic, all vehicles are vulnerable to accidents. Car, SUVs, and trucks of all kinds are vulnerable to causing and being on the receiving end of accidents. For example, official government agency vehicles are not exempt from getting into accidents. In fact, according to the New Hampshire Department of Transit (NHDOT), 25 of its official vehicles have been involved in vehicle accidents since the beginning of 2022.

The New Hampshire police force has a similar situation with 11 of their cruisers being involved in accidents since the beginning of the year as well. The most concerning part of that is that there is always the potential that a fatality may occur. If a vehicle driver sees a vehicle that is stopped on the road, the law (in all 50 states) dictates that they must slow down and move over. If they do not follow that, they are breaking the law.

Solid advice from a vehicle accident lawyer

If you have been the victim of a traffic accident in which the other driver did not obey the law and slow down and move over to avoid hitting you, the solid advice of a New Hampshire vehicle accident lawyer may be invaluable to your case. The accident may have caused you to need a lot of medical treatment, which can be costly and time consuming. The lawyer can help you to get what you need and what you deserve so that you can live a comfortable life now and in the future.
